This album is for the "Photo A Day" challenge at 2Peas. I love the idea of using my camera everyday. It is a great way to capture the unexpect, mundane, unique, extraordinary, wild, crazy, funny, touching moments that happen each day that we are sometimes not aware of until later. It is also a great way to improve my picture taking skills and become better acquantied with my camera. Besides all of this ... I love a good challenge.
This photo is an attempt at using the "macro" setting on my camera. It isn't exactly what I wanted or what I expected but I still like the effect.
This is DD's first and favorite nightgown. It is frilly, pink and has one of her favorite characters - Strawberry Shortcake - on it. I asked her to take off the nightgown and get dressed, and you can see her reaction.
We put a set of little ornaments on the tree tonight. DD got to pick them out and had lots of fun putting them up. Notice the outfit (or lack of said outfit) on DD. She wanted to be a snow princess and had to dress up in the leftover bead garland and some ribbons. Silly girl, but oh so cute.
We put up our thin, spindly, fake Christmas tree tonight. DD had a blast helping Daddy get it all together and then helping Mommy 'fan' the branches. This is the first time DD has gotten the chance to get close to the tree and was so thrilled to be helping like a big girl. We put up the tree, put on lights and garland tonight. The ornaments will be added a little each night until Christmas Eve, when we'll finally put the angel on top.
This was the view from my front door this evening. The photo doesn't capture the amazing pearlescent affect on the snow but I still like how it caught the sun thru the clouds.
DD loves this stuff and we have tons of it. Seems like someone is giving it to her as a gift for every occasion - Halloween, Easter, birthday, etc. She just had to get out the entire collection to play with at the kitchen table. It kept her occupied for over an hour, which gave me time to do some much needed cleaning.
We woke up to snow on Thanksgiving morning and DD just had to get out there and play. I convinced her to eat breakfast first then she dove into her snow gear and headed outside. We spent about an hour tromping around the yard, getting rosy cheeks and cold tootsies. We headed inside and had hot coco and warm cookies we had baked earlier. A lovely start to a fun Thanksgiving day.
This shows the huge pile of DD's toys in our living room at the moment. I am attempting to sort thru them to determine what can stay and what can go. But DH and DD just pile it all back in the playpen and keep right on playing. Ugh!
Our dog can be such a pansy. He is terrified of the 'new' camera and has to seek shelter from Daddy. Goofy dog.
DD has a new obsession - the movie "Madagasgar". Notice the concentrated start while watching it. Just like my dad, we have to tell him to blink while watching movies or he forgets.
DD is getting pretty good at the fake smile thing and now thinks it is quite funny. The flash is way to harsh here but the no flash photos didn't turn out at all.
This picture took me by surprise. DD looks like a little girl and not my little baby. When did she start growing up???
What is it with little girls, dresses and twirling? I love how I caught the dress ties flying out.
DD loves t chat on the phone. Once she starts talking she always ends in her room, either on the floor or in her chair, gabbing to someone (usually grandma or grandpa).
Since we don't have a real fireplace this is our 'make-believe' one. It is one of Partylite's 'melters' and I usually have it going from mid-November until well into February even though it is a 'holiday' decoration.
I just loved how this pile of sticks and leaves looked in the afternoon sun. It was only sunlit for a moment before the clouds came back.
Sometimes I think DD is part fish. She loves to swim and play in the bathtub. She got some bubblebath from a neighbor for Halloween and is now a bubble bath diva.
I found a darling dress for DD's Christmas outfit and just had to have her try it on. Got to be sure it will fit right?
While on our annual Christmas Shopping trip we stopped at Bass Pro/Outdoor World and had to take a bunch of photos with the animals. DD loves deer and moose. She had to pet this one and wanted to sit on it's back.
DD loves to play on the swings but has recently taken to hanging from the crossbar and swinging. As long as she is having fun.
This is the first time DD let me put some little pigtails in her hair. She would rather have her hair in her eyes or flying around than pulled back so she can see.
I was playing with natural light in my kitchen and got this shot of the chef figurine that holds our nightly dinner menu. We had him for years before we ever took him out of the box. DD thinks he is so funny and loves that we put him on the counter before dinner each night. DH writes what we're having for dinner on the little chalkboard the chef holds and DD always adds her own special signature.
This is one of DD's "fake" smiles, a recent addition to her many faces. This one is usually accompanied by "Huh? Yeah." from her.
Love this photo and how I captured DD trying to blow out our dinner candle.
DD loves shoes. All kinds, all colors, all over the place. The basket is my attempt at getting them to stay somewhat together. But it never lasts very long and this is only ONE of the baskets filled with shoes. I think these things are breeding while we sleep.
Since reogranizing DD's room to put in her 'big girl' bed we've managed to carve out a little reading area in the corner of the room. It includes a nice bookshelf stocked with books, a small rocking chair, a huge 'sitting' pillow, blankies and a few dolls & stuffed critters. DD loves to cuddle up with a good book and this little spot draws her right in. It's a favorite spot of mine now too. Reminds me of my little reading spot when I was a little girl.
I snapped a few photos of this dress and bonnet as I packed it up to be returned to my MIL. It is such a gorgeous dress, handmade by my MIL. I am so glad DD got to wear it for her baptism.
Here is my little sweetie kissed with chocolate. She had a piece of her Halloween candy stash and made a lovely mess. But she's still so cute. :)
This is the top of our entertainment center, always a complete mess. You would never know that I clean it off EVERY day and yet when I get home from work it looks like this.
This is one photo out of many that I took for the "photo a day" challenge. I wanted to practice my no-flash picture taking and these seemed like perfect subjects. I wanted to be sure to capture all of our pumpkins before DH puts them in the compost bin.
